About Us

Supporting our Community

The Wattaka Café is an initiative of Ungooroo Aboriginal Corporation. It provides hospitality industry skills and training to local Aboriginal people with a disability.

Made possible with the help of a NSW Government grant, under the Making It Our Business program, the initiative delivers culturally appropriate support under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). It offers individuals pathways that will help them reach their full potential and contribute to the community in a meaningful way.

Mentored by Wattaka Café’s pastry chef and barista, employees are given the opportunity to learn new skills and develop the competencies required to work in a thriving café.

Indigenous Flavours

Wattaka’s unique approach goes beyond its focus on helping those with a disability. The café’s menu is a mix of pastries, light meals and toasties, infused with Indigenous flavours. Paying respect to the food sources that sustained us for tens of thousands of years, the menu is underpinned by Lemon Aspen, bush honey, Davidson’s Plum, Bush Tomato, Wattle Seed and many more traditional flavours. Enjoy a meal or a sweet treat with a rich, aromatic coffee or one of our native teas.

Making a Difference

This is a bold initiative that will make a difference to the lives of Aboriginal people with disability in the region. It offers those who aspire to work in hospitality an opportunity to develop skills and embark on a rewarding working life.
